After a very satisfying wet day of digging in the rain, I was exhausted and now needed to figure out how to make it pretty and flowering, amidst a plot that could be continuously wet with little drainage. Now: I know plants and flowers pretty well. I know shade versus sun, flowering versus greenery, and perennial versus annual. I do not know what ones can almost drown and thrive. I had a general idea of which ones cannot, but not which ones are ok with a snorkel.
So in a hot bath, I started googling, with all my perennial books on the floor next to the tub, and a glass of wine. A little pruned, I came out a lot more educated on what I could plant there, how to layer the soil and with a list for my favorite local plant stand. I starred the ones I liked the most, circled the ones that were the best options, and check marked the ones that are easy to find.
